Wabash opened the outdoor portion of the 2019 track and field season by posting 23 top-seven finishes at Saturday's 28
th Annual Indiana Wesleyan Polar Bear Invitational.

Josh Wiggins raced to first place in the 200-meter dash, winning the race with a time of 22.59.
Preston Whaley finished second with a time of 22.66.
Leon Ivy finished the race in 23.00 to place fifth overall.
Jose Franco added a seventh-place finish with a time of 23.17. Wiggins scored a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.16.
Leo Warbington placed seventh overall by turning in a time of 16.41.

Whaley scored a first-place finish in the long jump with a top mark of 6.66 meters (21 feet, 10.25 inches).
Gianni Minor place third overall with leap of 6.38 meters (20 feet, 11.25 inches).

Ethan Pine captured first place in the 1500-meter run by finishing in 4:02.04.
Joe Deiser finished the race in 4:09.02 to finish seventh overall.

Whaley scored a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash by completing the race in 50.27.
Andrew Young finished the race in 51.68 to place sixth overall.

Ivy, Wiggins, Franco, and Gossett combined to complete the 4x100-meter relay in 42.94 to place second in the race.

Lucas Bender and
Ahmaud Hill placed third and fourth, respectively, in the pole vault. Bender cleared 4.20 meters (13 feet, 9.25 inches) for his third-place finish in the event. Hill placed fourth by topping out at 3.90 meters (12 feet, 9.5 inches). Hill also finished fourth in the triple jump with top leap of 12.71 meters (41 feet, 8.5 inches).

Hunter Baehl finished third overall in the javelin with a throw of 50.62 meters (166 feet, 1 inch).

Wabash claimed three top-seven finishes in the 100-meter dash. Ivy placed fifth overall in the finals with a time of 11.35.
Brady Gossett finished sixth with a time of 11.35 in his heat. Wiggins crossed the finish line in 11.38 for seventh place overall.

Max Bigler ran the 400-meter hurdles in 58.86 to finish fifth overall.
Rogeno Malone placed seventh in the race with a time of 1:00.39. Bigler also finished sixth in the high jump by clearing a top height of 1.87 meters (6 feet, 1.5 inches).

Donnie Mader place seventh overall in the discus with a top toss of 44.50 meters (146 feet).

Wabash will compete at the Bellarmine Invitational next Friday and Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
