GAMBIER, Ohio — Wabash College closed the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a third-place finish Saturday at Kenyon College's Wilder Track and McBride Field, highlighted by conference titles from
Quinn Sholar,
Colson Mendenhall and
Sly Williams and major awards for Sholar and
Sam Vaught. Sholar was named the NCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year, while Vaught earned NCAC Men's Newcomer of the Year honors.
The Little Giants finished third in the final men's team standings with 145.5 points. John Carroll won the team title with 163.5 points, followed by Wittenberg in second with 156. Ohio Wesleyan placed fourth with 89 points, followed by DePauw with 87.5, Kenyon with 59.5, Denison with 53, Oberlin with 40 and Wooster with 23.
Sholar added another conference championship Saturday by winning the shot put with a throw of 15.98 meters.
Evan Furuness earned All-NCAC honors by placing third with a mark of 14.94 meters.
Jakob Van Pelt finished seventh at 13.78 meters, while
Solomon Massela scored in eighth place with a personal-best throw of 13.74 meters.
Vaught produced two all-conference performances on the track. He finished second in the 800-meter run in 1:55.77, with teammate
David Adesanya placing fourth in 1:56.33. Vaught also finished second in the 1,500-meter run in 3:59.66.
Haiden Diemer-McKinney placed fifth in the 1,500 in 4:03.21, and
Sam Carpenter scored with an eighth-place finish in a career-best 4:05.03.
Williams won the triple jump title with a leap of 14.64 meters to earn all-conference honors. His victory gave Wabash another 10 points in the team standings.
Mendenhall claimed the pole vault championship by clearing 4.79 meters for the top effort of his career.
Nate Joven added all-conference honors with a third-place finish at 4.49 meters.
Tyler Petroski placed sixth at 4.39 meters, and
Hugh Ford finished seventh at 4.19 meters, giving Wabash four scoring performances in the event.
Wabash added four more scoring finishes in the hammer throw.
Jordan Tate earned All-NCAC honors by placing second with a career-best mark of 51.13 meters.
Lane Brockman finished fourth at 50.93 meters, William Boas placed fifth at 49.30 meters for a career-best mark, and
Jacob Guse took sixth at a person-best distance of 46.73 meters.
Brock DeBello earned all-conference honors in the 400-meter dash, placing third in 47.29 seconds. DeBello's finish gave Wabash six points in the event.
Owen Smith scored for the Little Giants in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing fifth in 56.67 seconds.
Kannon Chase tied for fifth in the high jump by clearing 1.85 meters.
The Wabash 4x100-meter relay team of Williams, Joven,
Tanner Brooks and
Carter Leininger finished sixth with a time of 42.51 seconds. The Little Giants' 4x400-meter relay team of DeBello, Diemer-McKinney, Adesanya and Vaught placed fourth in 3:20.01.
