BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — A small group of Wabash College athletes competed Saturday at the non-scoring Olivet Nazarene University Open, with the Little Giants producing five top-five finishes in the final tuneup before the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Jack Huisden and Alec Saidian led the Little Giants by tying for second place in the 110-meter hurdles finals. Both runners crossed the finish line in 15.77 seconds.
Saidian, a freshman, advanced to the finals after finishing second in the preliminary round with a career-best time of 15.67 seconds. Huisden, a sophomore, qualified sixth in the preliminaries with a time of 16.23 seconds.
Owen Smith turned in a second-place finish for Wabash in the 400-meter hurdles, completing the race in 57.37 seconds. Freshman Ben Thompson added a fifth-place finish in the same event with a career-best time of 58.78 seconds.
Carter Leininger added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. The sophomore posted a time of 21.99 seconds. Tanner Brooks also competed in the event and finished 11th in 22.57 seconds.
Huisden placed sixth in the 400 hurdles in 58.93 seconds. Saidian finished eighth with a career-best time of 1:00.68.
Wabash returns to competition Friday, May 1, at the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
