A pair of Wabash College freshmen earned North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week Awards after turning in top performances at Saturday's Indiana Wesleyan University Polar Bear Invitational.
Ethan Pine received Men's Distance/Middle Distance Athlete of the Week honors, while
Preston Whaley was named the Men's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week.

Pine raced to a first-place finish in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:02.04 in his first collegiate outdoor meet to win his section and post the fastest time among the 75 competitors in the event. Pine's time is two seconds quicker than any other NCAC runner in the 1500-meter race through the first two weeks of the outdoor track and field season.

Whaley turned in a pair of second-place finishes on the track for Wabash Saturday. He placed second in the 200-meter dash by finishing in 22.66 and trailing teammate
Josh Wiggins, who won the race with a time of 22.59. Whaley ran to a second-place finish in 400-meter dash with a time of 50.27. Whaley also won Saturday's long jump event in addition to his efforts in the sprints with a top leap of 6.66 meters (21 feet, 10.25 inches).
