Wabash junior RaShawn Jones won his heat with a career-best time and will advance to Saturday's finals of the 110-meter hurdles at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
 
Jones won the first of the three heats with a time of 14.28, posting the fastest time among the 20 entries in the event and the quickest time of his career. He qualified for the championship meet with a time of 14.30 for his previous best effort at the NCAA Great Lakes Qualifying Meet at Ohio Wesleyan.
 
Connor Troyer from the University of Mount Union turned in the third-fastest time in the preliminary heats, winning the third heat with a time of 14.34. Eddie Mahana from St. John Fisher won the second heat with a time of 14.38. Mount Union's Mason Plant finished second to Jones in the first heat with a time of 14.31.
 
A total of nine competitors earned berths in Saturday's finals, set to begin at 1 p.m. The top-eight finishers will earn All-America honors. Wabash freshman Preston Whaley will also compete Saturday in the triple jump set to begin at 11 a.m.
