Wabash opened the 2019 cross country season Friday evening by competing against NCAA Division I programs from Butler University and IUPUI at the Butler Twilight Meet. The Little Giants finished third with a total of 79 points.

John Kirts paced the Wabash squad with a 10th-place finish in the overall team scoring. He completed the 6,000-meter loop in 19:11.2. Fellow senior
Sam Henthorn scored a 15th-place finish for the Little Giants after crossing the finish line in 19:25.3. Freshman
Thomas Gastineau earned 17th-place points in his first collegiate race by producing a time of 20:06.4. Teammates
Drew Lukens and
Clarke Criddell added 18th- and 19th-place points, respectively. Lukens completed the race in 20:16.5 with Criddell finishing in 20:17.3.

Ethan Pine earned 20th place in the team results with a time of 20:19.9.
Jon Deem-Loureiro grabbed 21st place by finishing in 20:20.1.

Butler won the team competition with a total of 22 points. IUPUI scored 35 points to take second place.

Wabash will race at the John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Saturday, September 21.
