The 2019-2020 Wabash College basketball team has been honored for its work in the classroom by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The Little Giants received the organization's Team Academic Excellence Award.
A program must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletics who competed during the 2019-2020 season to earn the Team Academic Excellence Award. The Wabash team posted a 3.66 team GPA at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season. Eighteen of the Little Giants' 20 players finished the year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher with 11 players named to the Wabash Dean's List. Three Little Giant players posted a 4.0 GPA.
"Young men come to Wabash knowing that they will be challenged in the classroom, and in our case, on the court," Wabash head basketball coach
Kyle Brumett said. "Our past players have built a culture of academic excellence, and our current players have continued to build and add to that culture. We expect our players to lead in the classroom, and this semester, even with the extraordinary challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, they met and exceeded our expectations."
