Wabash broke a pair of school records and earned 24 top-ten finishes at Saturday's Titan First Chance indoor track and field meet. The Little Giants scored 81.66 team points to finish second out of 11 programs competing at the season lid lifter.
Haiden Diemer-McKinney and
Will Newby both broke school records in the 600-meter run and 60-meter dash, respectively.
Deimer-McKinney,
Josh Massaquoi, and
Quinn Sholar scored individual victories for the Wabash team. Deimer-McKinney produced a school-record time of 1:22.04 in his first collegiate meet to win the 600-meter run, eclipsing the former record of 1:23.44 held by Hayden Baehl.
Will Neubauer scored a third-place finish in the 600-meter run by crossing the line in 1:23.32.Â
Will Newby picked up a pair of top-ten finishes while setting a new school record. He placed third in the finals of the 60-meter dash by finishing in 6.92 to break the former school record of 7.02 held by Josh Wiggins. Newby also scored a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.94.Â
Massaquoi qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.19 before cutting over half a second off that mark in the finals. He won the event with a time of 8.59.
Takeshi Greiner placed sixth in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.94.
Sholar won the men's shot put with a top throw of 15.97 meters (52 feet, 4.75).
Brandon English finished in fourth place with a 14.02-meter (46 feet) throw.
Reis Thomas placed eighth overall with a best effort of 12.64 meters (41 feet, 5.75 inches).
Evan Furuness took tenth place with a toss of 12.17 meters (39 feet, 11.25 inches). Sholar added a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a top distance of 15.27 meters (50 feet, 1.25 inches). English finished in tenth place with a throw of 13.19 meters (43 feet, 3.25 inches).
Brayden Curnutt finished in second place in the 3,000-meter run after posting a time of 8:55.08.
Thomas Gaines scored a third-place finish with a time of 8:59.33.
Jacob Sitzman placed eighth by finishing in 9:24.96.
Matthew Meyer added a tenth-place finish with a time of 9:43.23.
Mike Holsclaw cleared 1.90 meters (6 feet, 2.75 inches) to finish in fourth place in the high jump.
Jake Oostman topped out at 1.80 meters (5 feet, 10.75 inches) to tie for sixth place with teammate
Stuart Anker, who also cleared 1.80 meters.Â
The Little Giants' 4x400-meter relay team finished the race in 3:27.19 to capture third place.Â
Howie Steele placed seventh in the 300-meter dash by finishing in 37.03.
Nathan France added a tenth-place finish with a time of 37.18.
Wyatt Dorsey finished ninth in the long jump with an overall best leap of 6.12 meters (20 feet, 1 inch).Â
Wabash scored 81.66 points to trail only Greenville with 87.33 points in the final team standings. Illinois Wesleyan finished in third place in the field of 11 teams with 67 points.
