Wabash swimmer competes in home meet versus Rose-Hulman

Swimmers Place Eighth At Chicago D3 Shootout

Wabash completed the two-day D3 Swimming and Diving Shootout held Friday and Saturday at the University of Chicago by placing eighth in the team scoring.
 
Nicholas Plumb turned in the best finish in Saturday's competition for the Little Giants with a third-place effort in the 200-yard backstroke. The freshman posted a time of 1:53.35 in the "A" final. Will Renie swam to a 16th-place finish in the "B" final with a time of 2:04.55.  Plumb also completed the 100-yard butterfly in 52.71 to place eighth in the "A" final. Connor Craig finished in 15th place in the "B" final with a time of 52.78.
 
Quinn Sweeney finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle by finishing in 4:46.60. Renie finished 16th in the "B" final with a time of 5:00.65. Ethan Johns placed seventh in the "A" final of the 100-yard freestyle by finishing in 47.39. John Allen captured 16th place in the "B" final with a time of 49.44.
 
Justice Wenz scored an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke "A" final with a time of 2:14.13. Eddie DaMata completed the "B" final in 2:15.25 to earn 16th place overall. Wenz added an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley "A" final by finishing in 2:06.41. DaMata placed 16th in the "B" final with a time of 2:08.70.
 
Wabash placed eighth in the 400-medley relay with Plumb, DaMata, Sweeney, and Johns combining for a time of 3:28.93. The Little Giants finished in eighth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Johns, Allen, Craig, and Sweeney producing a time of 1:26.50.
 
Wabash scored a total of 255 points. The University of Chicago and Pomona-Pitzer teams tied for first place in the men's standings with scores of 459 points.
 
Wabash hosts the annual Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational beginning Friday, November 17. Swimming events for the three-day meet take place at the Crawfordsville High School Aquatics Center. Diving events compete at the Class of 1950 Natatorium on the Wabash campus on Saturday, November 18, and Sunday, November 19.
