Wabash competed at the non-scoring Big Blue Open at Eastern Illinois University over the weekend to start the outdoor portion of the track and field season. The Little Giants turned in nine top-five finishes over the two days of the meet.

Brayden Curnett raced to third place Friday evening in the 5,000-meter run. The sophomore ran a career-best time of 14:56.36. Freshman
Will Newby finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a season-opening time of 10.78.

Christopher Royal completed the 400-meter run in 51.12 to place fifth in his first outdoor collegiate meet.
Will Neubauer scored a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.05.

Quinn Sholar placed fifth in the shot put with a top mark of 13.98 meters (45 feet, 10.50 inches).
Reis Thomas added a fifth-place finish in the discus with his best effort of the day of 46.46 meters (152 feet, 5 inches).
Giovonni Zappala produced a career-best throw of 43.63 meters (143 feet, 2 inches) to finish fifth in the javelin.
Jake Oostman placed sixth overall with a top mark of 43.60 meters (143 feet).

Will Newby combined to place third in the 4x100-meter relay by finishing in 42.00.
Nathan France,
TK Walls,
Howie Steele, and Neubauer captured third place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:24.90.
