Thomas, Diemer-McKinney Post Top Marks At Midwest Qualifier

Freshman Haiden Diemer-McKinney and senior Reis Thomas both posted career-best efforts at Thursday's Midwest Twilight Qualifier at Augustana College in efforts to qualify for next week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.

Thomas turned in a career-best  and school-record throw of 52.23 meters (171 feet, 4 inches) for what would currently be the 13th-best mark of the season. The top-22 marks qualify for the championship meet with the field of competitors to be announced Friday, May 19.

Diemer-McKinney finished second in the 800-meter dash with a career-best time of 1:49.54. That time is currently seventh-fastest this season among Division III runners. Will Neubauer also competed in the 800-meter dash, finishing 20th out of 45 competitors in the event with a time of 1:56.08.

Brayden Curnutt raced in the 1500-meter run, finishing 15th out of 47 runners with a time of 3:56.84.

Quinn Sholar turned in a throw of 14.09 meters (46 feet, 2.75 inches) to place 15th out of 30 entries in the shot put.
