Wabash College freshman
Haiden Diemer-McKinney raced to 13
th place in the prelims of the men's 800-meter run at the 20223 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, New York, to complete his rookie collegiate season.
Â
Diemer-McKinney finished the two-lap race at St. John Fisher University in 1:50.53 for his third-fastest effort of the season. He finished fifth in the heat. The top-two finishers in each of the three heats and the next two fastest times advance to Saturday's final.
"I'm obviously disappointed with the outcome, but it's a great learning opportunity," Diemer-McKinney said. "I'm thankful for everything I've learned this year in terms of competing and being a student of the sport. I can't thank the coaching staff enough for their endless support and belief in me as a student and an athlete. I can't wait to be a part of this program for another three years."
 Â
"I'm so proud of all that Haiden accomplished this year," Wabash associate head track and field coach
Tyler McCreary said. "Today didn't go how we had hoped, but that's the nature of the sport. Haiden handled himself wonderfully all year. We couldn't be happier and more excited for his future at Wabash."
