Curnutt Wins NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional Title

Wabash College senior Brayden Curnutt just keeps winning titles. Curnutt crossed the finish line at the 2024 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Men's Cross Country Championship in first place to claim the individual title and earn a berth to the NCAA DIII National Championships on November 23. His victory comes two weeks after winning the 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Championship title.

Curnutt toured the course in 24:36.83 to set a new personal best time. His first-place finish is the best by a Wabash runner since Dominic Patacsil placed second at the 2017 Great Lakes Region by crossing one second behind the race winner. Curnutt will compete at next Saturday's championship race at the Gibson Family Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana, the same course where he won his conference championship.

Jacob Sitzman raced to 86th place in a field of 283 runners. He finished with a time of 26:41.97. Will Neubauer finished 120th with a time of 27:08.11. Two freshmen completed the team scoring for Wabash, with Johnathan Loney placing 143rd at 27:27.50. First-year Alex Orihuela finished 238th at 29:44.83.

Wabash scored 586 points to finish 21st out of 42 teams. Calvin won the men's team title with a score of 99 points.
