The Wabash College track and field team finished seventh out of 11 teams competing at Saturday's Indiana State University Sycamore Open as a tune-up for next weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference championship meet.

The Little Giants captured first place in the 4x100-meter relay by turning in the team's best time of the year.
Owen Smith,
Conner Grimes,
Julius Hearns, and
Tanner Brooks combined to win the race by finishing in 42.31 to set a new meet record. The time is the third-fastest among NCAC schools this season.

Grimes turned in his own season-best time in the 100-meter dash, finishing second with a time of 10.74.
Mike Holsclaw added a second-place finish in the high jump after clearing 1.75 meters (5 feet, 8.75 inches).
Ty Murphy raced to second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 10:50.13.

Steele scored a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash by crossing the line in 50.66.
Wyatt Dorsey picked up sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 6.23 meters (20 feet, 5.75 inches).

Josh Massaquoi placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles by finishing in 16.15.
Karston Runge added a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.68.
Landon Miller produced his career-best throw in the javelin at 43.69 meters (143 feet, 4 inches).
Jake Oostman turned in a career-best effort in the discus throw with a top mark of 39.77 meters (130 feet, 6 inches). William Boas placed tenth in the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 43.08 meters (141 feet, 4 inches).

Wabash scored 45 points to finish seventh overall. Indiana State won its meet with 161 points, finishing ahead of Mineral Area College in second place with 97 points.
