Will Neubauer and Haiden Diemer-McKinney turned in top performances of the year in the 800-meter run at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier Wednesday night. Neubauer posted a career-best time, while Diemer-McKinney produced his best time of the season.
Neubauer crossed the finish line in 1:51.51 to better his all-time best effort of 1:52.26. The junior finished second in his heat and placed 12th overall in the 800. Diemer-McKinney finished third in the same heat of the 800 with the same time of 1:51.51, crossing the line 1/1000th of a second behind Neubauer. Diemer-McKinney's time was his best of the season and earned him 13th place overall.
The two times are tied for the 37th-best marks among Division III men entering the final few days of qualifying for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The top 22 times declared as entries for the national championship will be accepted for competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, May 23-25. The final participation list will be available on Friday, May 17, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
