Little Giants Tune-up at Indiana State Before Conference

TERRE HAUTE, Indiana -- The Wabash track and field team sent a small group of athletes to Indiana State to compete in the John Gartland Invitational on Saturday in preparation for next week's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

Freshman Jakob Van Pelt set a new personal best in the shot put with a launch of 13.18 meters (43 feet, 3 inches), matching the conference standard and punching his ticket to the championship meet. Sophomore Jacob Guse also achieved a collegiate-best toss of 12.48 meters (40 feet, 11.50 inches) in the event.

Freshman Morgyn Clark competed in the 400-meter dash and crossed the tape in 54.37 for a new personal record.

After a minor injury, sophomore Daiden Taulbee set season bests in the 60 and 200-meter dash with marks of 7.49 and 24.88, respectively.

The Little Giants are slated as the favorites for the 2025 NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, according to the pre-championship poll. Wabash accumulated 76 points and five first-place votes from the coaches.

The championship meet will take place on February 28-March 1st at Oberlin College.
