Track and Field Competes Around The Midwest To Wrap Up March Competition

HANOVER, Indiana; BLOOMINGTON, Illinois; ST. LOUIS, Missouri --- The Wabash College track and field team split three ways over the weekend, competing at the Hanover Spring Invitational, the Illinois State University Redbird Challenge, and the Washington University in St. Louis Distance Carnival.
 
Little Giant senior Ryan Papandria won the javelin throw at the Hanover Invitational on Saturday. His top throw of 49.61 meters (162 feet, 9 inches) was one foot shy of his career-best toss. John Schnerre finished in sixth place with his throw of 39.43 meters (129 feet, 4 inches).

Quinn Sholar scored a pair of top-four finishes in the shot put and discus. He turned in a top mark of 44.31 meters (145 feet, 4 inches) to capture third place in the discus. Teammate Evan Furuness placed sixth in the discus with a toss of 42.72 meters (140 feet, 2 inches).
 
Sholar added a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.52 meters (47 feet, 7.75 inches).
 
Lane Brockman finished in sixth place in the hammer throw with his career-best toss of 48.84 meters (160 feet, 3 inches).
 
David Adesanya turned in the top performance for Wabash at the Illinois State meet, winning the 800-meter run. He outran a field of 20 finishers by crossing the finish line in 1:55.80.
 
Owen Smith and Jack Huisden finished second and third in the 400-meter hurdles. Smith took runner-up honors by finishing in 58.82. Huisden crossed the line in 1:02.31 to earn third place.
 
Freshman Johnathan Loney turned in a season-best time with a fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at ISU, completing the race in 16:02.18. Tanner Brooks captured fifth place in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 11.57. Hugh Ford placed sixth in the pole vault by clearing 4.32 meters (14 feet, 2 inches) for his season-best effort.
 
Smith and Brooks joined with Julius Hearns and Carter Leininger to capture second place in the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet combined to finish the race in 43.47. Smith, Adensanya, Christopher Royal, and Morgyn Clark raced to fifth place in the 4x400-meter relay with a combined time of 3:28.24.
 
Haiden Diemer-McKinney produced the top finish by a Wabash competitor at the Distance Carnival in St. Louis, finishing 22nd in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.73.
