The Wabash College cross country team competed at the Gil Dodds Invitational at the St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville, Illinois, on Saturday, finishing seventh out of 24 teams. The Little Giants scored 222 points, edging out rival DePauw (225) and Carroll (Wis.) (276) in the team standings.

The University of Chicago claimed the team crown with 20 points, followed by Carthage (95) and Wheaton (Ill.) (114) in second and third, respectively.

Freshman
Tyler Kerzee paced Wabash in his first collegiate 8,000-meter race, placing 32nd overall with a personal-best time of 26:54.40. Sophomore
Johnathan Loney followed closely behind in 41st place, clocking a personal-best 27:07.70. Freshman
Samuel Carpenter also impressed in his 8k debut, running 27:12.00 to take 44th overall.

Junior
Angel Perez crossed the line in 92nd with a time of 28:23.80. Junior
Carter Norris added a 122nd-place finish at 29:13.30, while sophomore
Sawyer Lewis placed 134th, running a 29:24.20 for a career-best effort. Junior
Austin Jewell finished right behind Lewis in 29:25.00, claiming 135th overall to round out the top seven for the Little Giants.

Wabash will be back on the grass Saturday, October 4, at the Louisville Sports Commission Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.
