Webber Named Wabash Head Lacrosse Coach After Serving in Interim Role

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Wabash College Director of Athletics Jim Peeples has announced the appointment of Nate Webber as the head coach of the Little Giant lacrosse program, removing the interim tag from his title.

Webber had been serving as interim head coach since the summer following the departure of former coach Chris Burke, who accepted a position at Hampton University.

"Nate has made a tremendous impact on our program since joining the staff," Peeples said. "He's been instrumental in helping us grow the roster and build the depth we need to compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference. We've seen real progress on the field as well, with back-to-back seasons matching the program record for wins. Just as important, he's helped us retain nearly every player who had the opportunity to return, even through a coaching transition, which speaks to the trust and respect he's earned from our team. Nate has also hit the ground running on the recruiting trail with an exciting early class already forming. Those are the reasons we're confident in his ability to lead Wabash lacrosse and continue the upward momentum of the program."

Webber joined the Wabash staff in 2023 as an assistant coach and has played a key role in the program's growth and on-field success. The Little Giants tied their program record for wins in each of the last two seasons, finishing 8-8 in both 2024 and 2025. Wabash also recorded its first-ever North Coast Athletic Conference victory over Wittenberg last spring.

Working primarily with the team's defense and goalkeepers, Webber helped Wabash rank fourth in the NCAC in scoring defense last season, allowing just 9.94 goals per game. The Little Giants also placed third in the league in saves per game (11.38), fourth in caused turnovers per game (9.13), and ranked among the top 85 NCAA Division III teams in man-down defense (.774), the third-best mark in the NCAC.

A 2020 graduate of the University of Indianapolis, Webber earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science – pre-physical therapy before completing a master's in exercise science – human performance in 2021. He was a four-year member of the Greyhounds' men's lacrosse program, serving as captain during the 2020–21 season. A four-time Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Academic Team selection, he helped lead UIndy to the 2019 NCAA Division II national semifinals, two NCAA tournament appearances, and three GLVC tournament titles.

Prior to joining Wabash, Webber spent two seasons as an assistant coach at DePauw University, where he helped the Tigers to 11 total victories, including five in NCAC play. He also coached for Midwest Express Lacrosse.

"I'd like to thank Coach Peeples and the rest of the department for their trust and belief in my ability to continue to push this program forward," Webber said. "I'm both proud and honored to represent this college, community, and program. I'm incredibly excited for the future of Wabash lacrosse."
