SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — The Wabash College cross country team placed sixth out of 10 teams at Saturday's Sodexo Grizzly Invitational hosted by Franklin College at the Blue River Cross Country Course. The Little Giants scored 143 points, led by sophomore Johnathan Loney's 17th-place finish.
Loney covered the 5,000-meter course in 16:29.81 to pace Wabash in its first meet of the season. Freshman Jack Loftus crossed the line next for the Little Giants, finishing 20th in 16:37.05. Classmate Tyler Kerzee followed in 23rd at 16:37.87.
Freshman Sam Carpenter added a 39th-place effort in 17:20.25, while sophomore Alex Orihuela closed out the team scoring in 60th place with a time of 17:37.83. Sophomore Egan Williams (65th, 17:46.00) and junior Carter Norris (68th, 17:48.27) rounded out the top seven for Wabash.
Centre College won the team title with 46 points, followed by Manchester (55) and DePauw (110).
