WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Wabash College men's tennis team had several notable performances at the 2025 UW–Whitewater Warhawk Fall Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Seniors Cole Shifferly and Tharakesh Ashokar highlighted the weekend with deep runs in singles and doubles competition, while Murilo Guarniari, Faustino Dimuro, and others also earned strong finishes in the varous brackets.
Cole Shifferly advanced to the final of the No. 1 singles consolation bracket with a three-set semifinal victory over Lake Forest College's Felipe Moraes, 7-5, 2-6, 10-7. In the final, Shifferly fell in straight sets to Lake Forest's Bernardo Aguiar, 3-6, 5-7, finishing second in the bracket.
Guarniari Second in No. 2 Singles
Murilo Guarniari reached the final of the No. 2 singles bracket. He opened with a quarterfinal victory over Lake Forest College's Rodrigo Cunha, 6-2, 6-1, then edged Roosevelt University's Justus Peters in the semifinals, 3-6, 6-1, 10-8. In the finals, Guarniari faced Wisconsin-Whitewater's Charles Morgan and narrowly lost in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.
Ashokar opened the No. 2 singles bracket with a 6-1, 7-6 (2) quarterfinal win. He lost in the semifinals to Morgan, 6-3, 6-2, and fell in the consolation final to Roosevelt's Peters, 6-3, 6-2, finishing fourth.
Other Singles Highlights
• Eduardo Werneck recorded a victory in the No. 3 singles consolation semifinals, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
• Faustino Dimuro reached the final of the No. 4 singles consolation bracket, defeating Oliver Aroub, 6-0, 6-1, in the semifinals before falling to Lake Forest College's Joao Vitor Espindola, 7-6, 8-6, 7-5.
• In the No. 5 singles bracket, Ethan Koeneman advanced to the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Olivet Nazarene's Alexander Schroff but lost to Wisconsin-Whitewater's Lleyton Davidson, 6-2, 6-1. William McArdle was defeated in the quarterfinals by Roosevelt's David Hofmann, 6-4, 6-3.
Wabash had teams competing in both the number one doubles and third doubles flights at the Warhawk Men's Fall Invite held at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
In the number one doubles flight, Shifferly and Ashokar reached the final of the consolation bracket by defeating Tyler Nelson and Charles Morgan of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the consolation semifinals, 6-0. In the final, they faced Theo Billson and Daniel Moeller, also of Wisconsin-Whitewater, ultimately losing 6-4.
In the third doubles flight, Werneck and Dimuro reached the final of the consolation bracket by defeating Alec Toronjo and Ethan Hurjak of Olivet Nazarene University 6-0. They were defeated in the final by Raul Ferrer Vilarino and David Hofmann of Roosevelt University, 6-1.
