Wabash College freshman guard Luke Ellspermann earned North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week honors for his performances in victories over Denison and the College of Wooster last week.
Ellspermann averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and two assists in the two wins for the Little Giants. He scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds in a 64-59 home victory over Denison on Wednesday. Ellspermann made five of 12 shots from the field, including 2 of 4 from 3-point range, and added two assists and three steals as Wabash handed the Big Red their first conference loss of the season.
The freshman followed with a team-high 19 points in an 89-80 road win at Wooster on Saturday. He connected on five of seven field-goal attempts, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, and finished with five rebounds and two assists.
Ellspermann closed the week shooting 52.6 percent from the field by making 10 of 19 attempts. He totaled 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals to help Wabash move into a tie for first place in the latest conference standings.
