Grimes Earns NCAC Weekly Honor After Record-Setting Day at DePauw Invitational

Wabash College senior Conner Grimes earned North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Sprints/Hurdles Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors after breaking two school records Saturday to lead the Little Giants to the team title at the 2026 DePauw Invitational. Grimes established new Wabash standards in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

Grimes opened the day by posting a time of 6.95 seconds in the 60-meter preliminaries before lowering the mark to 6.91 in the finals to place second overall and eclipse the previous school record of 6.92 set by Will Newby in 2022. He returned later to win the 200 meters in 21.90, surpassing the former program record of 22.33 held by Jose Franco since 2022.

The senior's performances currently rank as the fastest times by a North Coast Athletic Conference sprinter this season, and his marks place him tied for 14th nationally among NCAA Division III competitors. Grimes also contributed to Wabash's 4x200-meter relay team, which finished fifth with a time of 1:33.88.

Wabash finished atop the team standings among the 12 competing programs.
