SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Senior
Quinn Sholar swept the throws and freshman
Brock DeBello delivered award-winning performances, leading Wabash College to a runner-up finish at the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Sholar was named the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Year after capturing first-place finishes in the weight throw and shot put at the NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Sholar won Saturday's shot put with a top mark of 16.42 meters after recording a conference- and school-record throw of 18.69 meters to win Friday's weight throw competition.
Freshman
Brock DeBello earned NCAC Newcomer of the Year honors after producing a pair of standout performances on the track. After breaking his own school record in Friday's 400-meter preliminaries with a 48.60 clocking, DeBello returned in Saturday's final to secure a fourth-place finish in 47.47 seconds. The top five finishers in the final eclipsed the conference championship record of 48.75, while DeBello lowered his own school record once again.
DeBello also ran the anchor leg of the Little Giants' second-place 4x400-meter relay team to earn All-NCAC honors in the final race of the meet. He joined
Owen Smith,
David Adesanya and
Haiden Diemer-McKinney to finish in 3:19.75.
Sly Williams placed second in the triple jump to earn another all-conference award at the 2026 meet. He leaped 14.72 meters to set a personal best while breaking the school record of 14.55 meters set by Preston Whaley in 2019.
Mike Holsclaw added an eighth-place finish with a top jump of 12.84 meters to record a career-best mark.
Adesanya claimed individual all-conference honors by winning the 800-meter run with a career-best time of 1:53.13. Diemer-McKinney also earned all-conference recognition with a third-place finish in the 800 in 1:53.47.
Sawyer Lewis added to the team scoring with an eighth-place finish in 1:57.84 after posting a career-best time of 1:57.21 in Friday's preliminaries.
Diemer-McKinney added a third-place finish in the mile, clocking a career-best 4:16.64 to earn another all-conference honor.
Sam Vaught placed fourth overall in the mile for the Little Giants, finishing in a career-best 4:17.26.
Joven picked up all-conference honors with a second-place finish in the pole vault Saturday. He cleared 4.40 meters on his first attempt to secure the runner-up spot.
Tyler Petroski also cleared 4.40 meters on his second attempt to earn third place in the pole vault and all-conference honors.
Colson Mendenhall finished fourth by clearing 4.30 meters, and
Hugh Ford cleared 4.20 meters to place sixth.
Evan Furuness joined Sholar as an all-conference shot put finisher by placing third with a top throw of 14.34 meters.
Kannon Chase and Morgyn Chase tied for fifth place in the high jump after both cleared 1.90 meters.
Carter Leininger, Smith, Joven and
Tanner Brooks combined to finish sixth in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:30.72.
Wabash finished second overall in the team standings with 144 points. Wittenberg claimed the team title with 157 points. John Carroll finished third with 111 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (91.5), DePauw (71.5), Oberlin (61), Kenyon (40), Denison (18) and Wooster (4).
