BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Wabash College's indoor track and field team delivered a strong all-around performance Friday and Saturday, capturing four individual event titles and posting multiple top-six finishes at the non-scoring Keck DIII Select Invitational hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.
Senior Quinn Sholar won the weight throw with a mark of 17.11 meters (56-1.75). Evan Furuness placed sixth with a toss of 15.90 meters (52-2), while Lane Brockman finished seventh after recording a throw of 15.81 meters (51-10.5). In the shot put, Furuness placed third with a throw of 15.34 meters (50-4). Sholar recorded a mark of 15.27 meters (50-1.25) to finish fourth.
Senior Sly Williams claimed victory in the long jump, clearing 7.00 meters (22 feet, 11.75 inches) to set a personal best and reset his own school record. Senior Conner Grimes followed with a win in the 60-meter dash, posting a season-best time of 6.95 seconds.
Freshman Brock DeBello rounded out Wabash's event victories by winning the 400 meters in 50.49 seconds. Freshman teammate William Shearer placed sixth in the event with a time of 51.08 seconds.
Haiden Diemer-McKinney finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.43. Junior David Adesanya followed closely behind in 1:57.01 to earn a fourth-place finish.
Freshman Tyler Petroski earned a sixth-place finish in the heptathlon, totaling 4,197 points, a score that now ranks seventh all time in Wabash program history. Fellow freshman Ricky Sanders placed eighth with 3,414 points in the multi-event competition.
The Little Giants return to action next weekend at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
