DeBello Advances to 400 Finals; Sholar Competes in Weight Throw at NCAA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Wabash College freshman Brock DeBello advanced to Saturday's finals in the 400-meter dash Friday at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the CrossPlex. Teammate Quinn Sholar also competed on the opening day of the national meet.

DeBello finished the first of five preliminary heats in 47.94 seconds Friday afternoon. When all heats were complete, his time ranked fifth among the 20 competitors, earning him a spot in Saturday's championship final and guaranteeing him First Team All-America honors.

DeBello is scheduled to compete in the 400-meter final at 5:35 p.m. Saturday.

Sholar competed in the weight throw Friday, placing 17th with a top mark of 17.06 meters (55 feet, 11.75 inches). He opened with a throw of 16.35 meters (53 feet, 7.75 inches) on his second attempt before producing his best mark on his third throw.

The senior, competing in his second NCAA championship event and his first indoor national championship, returns to competition Saturday in the shot put beginning at noon. Sholar enters the event ranked 10th among Division III throwers this season with a mark of 17.47 meters and will throw last in the second flight.

Wabash senior Sly Williams is also scheduled to compete Saturday, taking part in the first of two flights of the triple jump beginning at noon.
