Box Score Two first-half goals started an avalanche of scoring for Capital University soccer team Wednesday evening. The Crusaders added three more in the final period for a 5-1 victory over Wabash.
"Capital was just a very dynamic team," Wabash head coach
Chris Keller said. "They were very good with the ball, very good at attacking. They really took it too us.
"Having said that, they're not any better than anyone we will face in the North Coast Athletic Conference. I think some of our mainstays didn't get themselves ready to play today. You can't really have that and expect to win or even play well. A couple of guys came off the bench and played well. We've just got to find a consistency. Until we do, we won't find success as a team. I'm not asking for greatness, just consistency. Today was not a good example of that."
Braden Burkett,
Evan Coudriet, and
Fabian House were three of the reserve players that put shots on goal for the Little Giants. Coudriet managed the only goal for Wabash, taking a pass from
Ethan Dove from the right side to drill a shot past the Capital goalkeeper near the left post.
Blake Jennings added two shots on goal for the Little Giants.
Matt Paul made three saves in the contest.
Wabash (2-8, 0-1 NCAC) will face the College of Wooster on Saturday at noon at Mud Hollow Stadium as part of the College's annual Homecoming festivities.
