Spalding (4-2) opened the scoring in the twelfth minute as Aden Abdirahman made sneaky run through the Wabash defense and finished the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the goal. The Little Giants scored the equalizer shortly before the half when, in the 38th minute,
Max Rowley fired a rocket of a shot into the right upper ninety of the Spalding net in the 38th minute to even the score at 1-1
.
The score would remain level throughout the second half and both periods of extra-time until Sims finished on a ball in the Spalding 18-yard box to give the Little Giants the win.
Â
After the match Sims talked about his winner.
          Â
"I'm just in disbelief," Sims said. "I was just trying to play my role. I didn't get a lot of minutes and then Coach told me to go in because he wanted some height in the game. I just went in there and the ball came to me and I put it away. So I'm ecstatic right now."
          Â
Rodrigo Porras picked up his first assist of the season on the Rowley goal.
Mike Gore and Rowley combined to assist on Sims's winner.
          Â
Riley Pelton and Rowley led the Little Giants with three shots a piece. Wabash out shot Spalding by a margin of 22-8 overall. Wabash held a 10-2 margin coming in at 10-2 in shots on goal.

"We hadn't given up a goal all year," Head Coach
Chris Keller said. "So that was a little emotional for our team after trailing 1-0. We had to react a certain way, and did in a positive way by getting that goal before half time to level the game. We came back dominated the second half and the two overtime periods. Spalding is a great team, but I felt like our effort got us that win today."
          Â
Dayton Jennings picked up both the start and the win on the day. He tallied only a single save.

The Little Giants return to action next Wednesday night as they take on Hanover College at Mud Hollow Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
