Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame
George H. Efstathiadis, you left your home land of Greece to study in the United States, and came to Wabash in the fall of 1976 from North Liberty High School in North Liberty, Indiana. You were a versatile prep athlete, lettering in football, soccer, and track. Once at Wabash, though, you concentrated on soccer, and helped some of those early Little Giant soccer teams learn an international game.
An economics major, you earned four varsity letters in soccer and set every scoring record during your time on campus. You were elected twice to the All-Conference Second Team and twice to the First Team. As a junior, you scored a team-high 16 goals to earn First Team All-Conference honors, then scored another 11 goals as a senior to earn a spot on the Honorable Mention All-Mideast Team. Your school records of 16 goals in a season and 38 in your career stood in the record books until fellow Hall of Famer James Freeman broke them during his remarkable career. After your graduation from Wabash, you played league soccer in Canton, Ohio, coached a women’s soccer team in Youngstown, and earned your M.B.A. from Youngstown State.
Today you are a senior lecturer in marketing and director of EXED in Thessaloniki, Greece. For your remarkable goal-scoring prowess, the National Association of Wabash Men is proud to induct you, George H. Efstathiadis, in the Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame.
