Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame
A 1953 University of Maryland graduate, Navarro came to Wabash after head coaching stints at Williams College and Columbia University. He provided the impetus for Wabash's football turnabout --- and the program's continued success --- with not only his coaching but also his efforts to spur the College to compete on the Division III level with academics-oriented opponents.
In 1977, his last year at Wabash, Coach Navarro directed the Little Giants to the NCAA Division III National Tournament Championship game in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. His Little Giants' success that season netted him the Eastman Kodak-American Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year Award in the College Division. Navarro left Wabash to become the head coach at Princeton, a position he held for seven years prior to retiring from coaching and entering the real estate business with his sons. Navarro and his wife, Jill, reside in Westerly, Rhode Island.
