Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame
Diddel arrived at Wabash from Indianapolis Manual High School in 1904. An extremely versatile athlete who won letters in four sports, Bill excelled at basketball. During his four years on the team, the Little Giants posted and amazing 66-3 record. As a senior, he played on the first Wonder Five team that finished 24-0 and was acclaimed by the newspapers as world champion. Named in a sportswriter poll as the best player in the country, Diddel's greatest talent was in golf. The designer of nearly 300 golf courses, he remains the only person to win five Indiana State Amateur titles.
