Son of Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduate of Indiana’s Andrean High School, Michael Holcomb came to Wabash after earning three letters and Most Valuable Player honors as a prep standout. Four years later he had become a member of Wabash’s illustrious fifth “Wonder Five” team that captured the 1982 NCAA Division III Championship. Playing along side his friend and co-captain Pete Metzelaars, Holcomb’s court sense and ball distribution led to Wabash’s most honored season in modern basketball history.

A four-year basketball letterman and economics major, Holcomb led the 1982 Little Giants with 152 assists and 55 steals to go along with a 14.2 scoring average. That team shattered the Wabash record book, and Holcomb was honored with the “Mr. Team” award for his selflessness and character. As a three-year varsity contributor, Holcomb helped the Little Giants to a combined 63-16 record and made three straight trips to the NCAA tournament. He now joins his “Wonder Five” teammates Metzelaars, Merlin Nice, and Kerry Seward in the Wabash Athletic Hall of Fame.
