The 1951 Football Team was, by many accounts, the finest group of football players ever to suit up for Wabash College. In his book, Max Servies wrote about the team and said:

“With Jerry Huntsman at quarterback and "little brother" Stan at fullback, ends Ken Beasley and Bob Holstein, guards Gene Light and Jack Fitzgerald, halfbacks Joe Dooley, Cal Hilgedick and Norm Buktenica, center Dick Glassmeyer, tackles Lew Jones and Bob Hepler, and freshman kicker Vaino Grayam, Fraz's first football team went 7-0-1 (tying Butler 26-26) for its first undefeated season since Paul Sheeks' 1915 7-0-1 team. Jerry set many passing records, while for years Stan held the College’s all-time rushing records. Both men were named to the Little All State first team Little All-State and gained Little All-American honorable mention.”

The 1951 team averaged 36 points per game, pounded DePauw 41-12, and five members of that team have been inducted into the Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame.
