Roscoe Lee Fouts came to wabash in 1967 from nearby New Richmond, Indiana. Like the boys from the movie "Hoosiers," Fouts proved that small town boys from "Hickory" have the heart and desire to be champions. A three-sport athlete, Fouts excelled in football as a defensive back; in basketball as a center; and could throw the javelin as far as any Wabash track man. He lettered in each sport four times, earning 12 "W's" in all.

On the gridiron, he was the most improved defensive back as a sophomore and the most valuable DB twice. As a senior in 1970 he captained the Little Giants and earned First Team Academic All-America honors. In the 1967 "Mud Bowl", it was Fouts' second half fumble recovery that led to Wabash's only touchdown of the day and a 7-0 win. Wabash came into that game 1-7 while DePauw was 7-1.

As a basketball player Fouts led the Little Giants in rebounding two straight years. After an MVP junior season, he captained the Little Giants as a senior in route to the Pete Vaughan Award. An engineer with Southwestern Bell Telephone, he has been active in his community and church since he left Wabash. New living in Searcy, Arkansas, Fouts and his wife, Becky, have five children.
