Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame
Allen entered Wabash in 1965 from Osceola, Indiana. In the four years following, he rewrote Wabash and Little State record books for the sprints. In his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons he earned MVP honors by leading the Little Giants in scoring with his performances in the 100- and 220-yard dashes, long jump, triple jump, and 440-yard and mile relays.
As senior captain of the team, he qualified for the NCAA national meet in the 100, 220, and long jump as well as qualifying with the 440-yard relay team. Such performances and his Phi Beta Kappa academic work earned Allen an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Subsequent to earning an M.S. in education, he went on to teach before eventually working as an agent with State Farm Insurance in South Bend, Indiana.
