I can say from personal experience that offensive linemen don’t get statues and are rarely seen on highlight reels. What the great ones get is the quiet, permanent respect of the quarterbacks they protect and the running backs they spring. Weston Kitley got all of it.

Wes, you were a three-year starter and team captain, and quite literally were the cornerstone of some of the most prolific offenses Wabash football has ever produced.

Across the three seasons you started—2010, 2011, and 2012—Wabash posted a combined record of 28-4 with a 16-3 conference mark. In 2010, you helped Wabash average 398 yards and 34 points per game. As a junior, you protected your quarterbacks and made holes for running backs in an offense that ran for over 2,000 yards and passed for 2,500 yards with a 12-1 record. As a senior—when you were named to the D3football.com All-North Region team—Wabash averaged 409 yards per game, including over 210 yards rushing per game.

The honors you won for your consistency and leadership were many: three-time First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference awards; Honorable Mention All-America; and as member of the NCAC’s 30th anniversary All-Decade Team.

And then there was your performance in the classroom. In 2012, you were named a Capital One First Team Academic All-American, and upon graduation in 2013, you received the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Wes—Dr. Kitley—you demonstrated on and off the field exactly what a Wabash man is supposed be: smart, fearless, and committed to your brothers. Wabash football is proud to join with the NAWM to induct you in the Wabash Athletics Hall of Fame. Weston Kitley, you are Some Little Giant!
