Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame
Another in a fine line of athletes hailing from Wabash, Indiana, Tiny Knee earned four letters in both football and track. The Little Giants beat Purdue two of three years with Tiny at fullback. As a senior, he joined Notre Dame's Jim Crowley, one of the fabled "Four Horsemen," on the First Team All-State backfield --- the rest of the Four Horsemen took Second Team honors. The Indianapolis Star noted, in naming its 1922 All-State Team, that "... no first team would be complete without Knee..., the Little Giants' battering ram... ."
In track, Tiny ran on the winning Little Giant 880-yard relay foursome at the 1923 Drake Relays, and he set a long-standing javelin record. He went on to teach, coach, and serve as director of athletics at Ripley High School in Ripley, Tennessee, for forty years. Both Ripley's athletic field and "Tiny Town," the recreation park, are named in his honor. Tiny was active in civic organizations until his death, October 23, 1968.
