A product of nearby Wingate High School, Goldsberry starred in football, basketball, and baseball at Wabash. He was the center on the Little Giants' third Wonder Five national championship basketball team of 1921-22. One of Wabash's greatest athletes, "Goldie" became the Wabash baseball coach upon the retirement of his mentor, Harry Scholler, in 1932. Over the next nine seasons Goldsberry guided the Little Giants to a 70-66-1 record. His best season came in 1937 when Wabash finished 12-4 and was named secondary champion of Indiana. He died in 1966.
